The May 'Goddess' Box by Society of Lovely
This month's box from Society of Lovely has a mix of products for yourself and your home, along with some yummy sweet treats! The Goddess Box is one of three boxes that you can subscribe to and is $65 NZD per month. The two other boxes that you can subscribe to are Little Lovelies at $40 NZD per month and Envy at $105 NZD per month (shipping is included in the price). With Little Lovelies, you receive 4-5 items, with Goddess Gifts, you get 5-7 items, and with Envy, you get the full package, with around 8-11 items. This month's box contains five full-sized products all made by New Zealand brands. As always, Society of Lovely package their boxes beautifully and with care.
1. Salted Caramel Chocolate Bar by Wellington Chocolate Factory
Here we have the first of two sweet treats in this month's box. This Salted Caramel Chocolate Bar is by Wellington Chocolate Factory, who create award-winning chocolate using ethically sourced cocoa. Note, the cool artwork for the packaging was done by Gina Kiel.
This delicious bar contains 70% house blended cacao sourced from the Dominican Republic & Peru along with Paraguay Manduvira Co-operative Turbinado cane sugar. The top of the bar has been sprinkled with crunchy salted caramel brittle and I'm loving the balance of salty and sweet, definitely one of the tastiest chocolate bars I've had!
2. Lens & Screen Cloth by Wolfkamp & Stone
The second item in this month's box is a practical and stylish one. This lens and screen cloth's beautiful design has been done by New Zealand artists, Wolfkamp & Stone. I wear glasses that I'm constantly cleaning, so I'll be carrying this lens cloth around with me everywhere.
3. Gypsy Rose Organic Face Steam by Koko Body
Next up, we have a lovely pouch of Gypsy Rose Face Steam by New Zealand company, Koko Body Skincare. All of Koko Body's products are organic, ethical, and vegan. Each of their products are also waterless, and contain ingredients such as oils, clays, and salt, to ensure that their products do not require preservatives, yet are still long-lasting. This Face Steam contains the following organic ingredients: Rosehip, Rose Petals, Hibiscus Petals, and Chamomile. Rose softens, Chamomile calms, Hibiscus tones and hydrates, and Rosehip regenerates. Face steams are a great way to open up your pores to remove trapped dirt and toxins from your skin. I haven't used a face steam in years so I've been excited to use this product! I added this flower mix to a large bowl with hot water, left it to cool for a few minutes and then popped my face over the bowl with a towel to create a steam tent. After a few minutes, I wiped my face with a tepid cloth. I loved the floral fragrance combined with the hot steam which immediately made me feel relaxed. Afterwards my face felt a lot less tense and it was a great way to start off my morning skincare routine.
4. Confidence Postcards by Keren Elise
The May SOL box has an eclectic mix of products showcasing the talented people we have in New Zealand! Here are some gorgeous postcards by Keren Elise Creative. Keren Elise make a large range of artwork for your home, and I especially love their paintings and Botanical series.
This set of five postcards is from the Confidence series, and these would look amazing in small, black frames.
5. Victorian Rose Tea Lights by Skye Candle & Body Care
This set of six tea lights are made by Skye Candle & Body Care, a Wellington-based home and skincare whose products have featured in several subscription boxes. As always, this another quality, hand-crafted product that's going to have your house smelling amazing!
6. Salted Caramel Bliss Ball Mix by Clean Mixes
The last item in the May Box is this pouch of Salted Caramel Bliss Ball Mix by Clean Mixes. These mixes are sweet, yet good for you and contains: roast cashews, dates, organic maca, organic lucuma, and organic Himalayan salt. This mix is free of refined sugar and gluten free, so everyone can enjoy these treats. You'll get 10 bliss balls from the one pouch, but I think I'm going to make this into a slice. This is super easy to make and all you need to add is some coconut oil and honey!
Verdict: The May Box from Society of Lovely had plenty of variety, with all products made by New Zealanders. It was exciting to try new brands that I hadn't used before this box, and I hope to see more NZ made products in future boxes! You can sign up to one of Society of Lovely's three different subscriptions here.
