The 'June LUXE Bridal Box' by Something Blue
After my first Something Blue box last month, I've been waiting in excitement for my second LUXE box! As soon as you see the box arrive, you're going to get excited as it's a large, elegant, white and blue box that you know is full of wedding surprises! There are two boxes that you can subscribe to, the Something Blue Bridal Box which is $45.60 NZD per month, along with $5 shipping, and the Something Blue LUXE Bridal Box which is $77.60 NZD per month, along with $5 shipping. Today I'll be reviewing the LUXE Box which contained 8 items.
Note: There were a couple of additional products that I have chosen not to write about as they aren't cruelty-free and I personally don't use products that are not cruelty-free and I choose not promote those products.
1. Canterbury Bride Magazine
First up in the June Box, we have the Canterbury Bride Magazine, which is one I haven't seen before. Even though I'm Auckland-based, this magazine is still relevant as it contains plenty of Kiwi wedding inspiration and helpful info for your own wedding. This magazine has 170 glossy pages containing 16 stunning, real weddings from the Canterbury region.
2. Grapefruit Grounded Coffee Scrub
Here we have a large pouch of Grapefruit Grounded Coffee Scrub by UK brand, Grounded Body Scrub. This 100% natural body scrub is brightening, fruity, and refreshing, and contains ingredients that are packed with vitamins and anti-oxidants, such as: Robusta Coffee, Grapefruit Essential Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sugar, Salt, and Vitamin E. This scrub will good to use a week before your wedding to remove any dry and dead skin and get your skin looking and feeling soft and smooth.
3. 'I Do' Shoe Decal by Something Blue
From the two boxes I've received so far, it looks like each month, a cute, little extra is added in by Something Blue themselves! This month, they've included this 'I Do' diamanté decal which you pop onto the arch of your shoes, a subtle, extra detail to add into your day.
4. East Imperial Grapefruit Tonic
Last month, subscribers were treated with some Vodka & Sparkling Water, this month we're treated with a bottle of Grapefruit Tonic by East Imperial. This tonic contains: New Zealand Artesian Spring Water, Natural Cane Sugar, and natural flavours of Ruby Red Grapefruit, Pomelo Extract, and Quinine. You can mix this tonic with gin, or with soda water if you're planning to do dry July.
5. Aim'n Hair Scrunchie & Voucher
Next up, we have a cute, purple hair scrunchie by NZ sportswear company, Aim'n. I've been meaning to buy myself a scrunchie as I don't have any, so thanks Something Blue and Aim'n! Also included, is a $20 gift voucher for Aimn's online store.
6. Love Letter Cards by Be My Guest
I was delighted to see another gorgeous product made by Be My Guest. Last month subscribers received a pack of fun wedding activity cards, this month we have a set of Love Letter Cards. These simple, beautifully designed cards are for you and your partner to write a letter to each other to both read on your wedding day. I'm loving how Something Blue include items for your wedding day that you wouldn't necessarily think of amongst all of the planning, and all of these extra little details add to make your wedding that little bit more special, especially with these little keepsakes to look back on.
7. Vitamin C Tinted Moisturiser by The Skin Wardrobe
Here we have a Vitamin C Tinted Moisturiser by NZ-based, Scandinavian skincare company, The Skin Wardrobe. This tinted moisturiser comes in multiple shades, and I like what Something Blue have done with the inclusion of this product, by including a swatch sample to test first to see if it matches your skin tone, before you open the full-sized tube of moisturiser. If you find that it is the wrong shade for you, you're able to exchange the full-sized product for another shade. The shade I received was fine for me, and this is a nice tinted moisturiser for light coverage. I'll be using this at work during Winter as I don't like to wear too much makeup in the colder months as I'm suffering from dry skin. This moisturiser also has an SPF30 protection, and is both vegan and cruelty-free.
8. Personalised Engraved Champagne Glasses (LUXE)
I've saved my favourite item in the box to last, and that is this set of Personalised Engraved Champagne Glasses which LUXE subscribers would have received. So if you're a LUXE subscriber, you're going to receive one higher-value item each month. These champagne glasses are absolutely stunning, and are pretty weighty - with both the feel and look of them, you know that these glasses are of high quality.
A little added, personalised extra is that these glasses are engraved with yours and your fiancee's initials - the engraving was done by Kim Diwa who you can check out @kim.writes. I have to admit, I did get a little emotional seeing these glasses with our initials, as I would never think to go out and get anything personalised for our wedding, but I'm glad that Something Blue did. I've also been stumbling a bit with wedding planning as I'm sure many brides do, and having our first toast never even crossed my mind due to everything else that you need to plan which is overwhelming enough, so I'm grateful that our 'first toast glasses' can now be ticked off the list!
Verdict: My only critique would be that I would like to see Something Blue's boxes be completely cruelty-free as I wouldn't continue subscribing to a box that isn't. There has been a good mix of NZ-made products in their boxes, and so far, in just two month's of boxes, I've received items that would have slipped my mind in all our wedding planning, that I probably would have thought of later down the track after the wedding. This box is pretty special as I'm discovering little, added details for our day such as wedding activities, vow books, toast glasses, and love letters. I can't wait to see over the next few months, what other items Something Blue include to incorporate into our wedding. You can sign up to Something Blue's July Box here.
