The January 'Goddess' Box by Society of Lovely
Here we have the first 'Goddess' Box of 2020 from Society of Lovely! This is my second box from SOL, and each box so far has been a real surprise as I've received items I wouldn't even to include in a subscription box. The Goddess Box is one of three boxes that you can subscribe to and is $65 NZD per month. The two other boxes that you can subscribe to are Little Lovelies at $40 NZD per month and Envy at $105 NZD per month (shipping is included in the price). With Little Lovelies, you receive 4-5 items, with Goddess Gifts, you get 5-7 items, and with Envy, you get the full package, with around 8-11 items. This month's box contains six full-sized products, ranging from beauty, to wearables, to edibles!
1. Summer Scrunchie
First up in the January Goddess Box is a wearable item, a summer scrunchie! When I first opened my box, I thought this was a headband as I don't actually own a scrunchie like this! I always love receiving items in boxes that I've never tried before and that's a big reason as to why I'm a big lover of subscription boxes. I rarely tie my hair as I don't think it suits me, but with this hot summer, I've had to tie my hair up for work and this scrunchie adds a bit of colour and fun to my hair and I think I'll need to invest in more of these scrunchies.
2. Nitro Cold Brew Latte by Minor Figures Coffee
This interesting can of cold brew latte is made by London based company, Minor Figures Coffee. Instead of being hot brewed which is what you're usually used to with coffee, Minor Figures Coffee cold brews their beverages, which gives you a naturally sweeter, less bitter coffee. This latte is also a nitro coffee, meaning the coffee has been infused with nitrogen to give a foamy texture and a latte head. This latte tastes amazing and is the best cold coffee in a can/bottle that I've tried. It has a really smooth texture thanks to it being nitro infused, and is slightly sweet making it pretty much the perfect cold latte.
3. Vata Lip Balm by Hurraw! Balm
The first of the two beauty products in the January Goddess Box is this Vata Lip Balm by US, vegan, cruelty-free lip balm brand, Hurraw! Balm. The Vata lip balm is made from a cold pressed organic sesame oil and castor oil, along with a melted organic, raw coconut oil and raw cacao butter, and contains a herbal infusion of ashwangandha, almond, Guatemalan cardamom, and Turkish rose. With this fragrant blend, this lip balm has the most gorgeous, unique scent, and feels silky smooth on my lips. This is currently my favourite lip balm at the moment!
4. Turkish towel by Izzy and Jean
Next up, we have this beautiful towel by New Zealand towel company, Izzy and Jean. Izzy and Jean have a large range of towels in different designs, patterns and colours. Izzy and Jean's high quality towels are crafted by traditional artisans in Izmir, Turkey.
The towel I received in this month's Society of Lovely Box is the Classic Turkish towel in Navy. This towel is my favourite item in the January Box and is 100% cotton. This towel feels amazing on my skin and is the perfect beach or travel towel! I love the deep navy, the stripes, and the cotton tassels, and it's probably the nicest towel I own. This is my third SOL box and I can't get over the element of surprise they bring to each box, with the unique items they include in their boxes.
5. Pana Organic Salted Caramel Chocolate
Here we have a bar of Salted Caramel Chocolate by Australian company, Pana Organic. This chocolate is both gluten free and dairy free, and contains ingredients such as: cacao butter, coconut sugar, coconut milk powder, and maxi. This is a great sweet alternative if you're wanting to cut out dairy, soy, gluten, and refined sugars - unfortunately, this chocolate wasn't quite for me.
6. Smith & Co. Dry Body Oil by The Aromatherapy Co.
A brand featuring for the second time in Society of Lovely's boxes is The Aromatherapy Co. a New Zealand home and body company, that make candles, diffusers, room sprays, fragrances, and body care products. This generous 250ml bottle of Macadamia and Coconut Dry Body Oil is beautifully packaged and is free from parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, and dyes. As well as Macadamia and Coconut Oil, the Dry Body Oil also contains: Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil, and Rosemary Leaf Extract. After jumping out of the shower, you apply a small amount of oil to your skin whilst it is still damp. This oil does not contain fragrance which is quite refreshing, and it left my skin feeling soft and moisturised afterwards. I'll be using this oil regularly after my evening showers for some light hydration before bed.
Verdict: This was an awesome box to start the year off with and Society of Lovely nailed this Summer box with practical but gorgeous items that I'll use this Summer, such as the Izzy and Jean Towel, the Smith & Co. Body Oil, the Hurraw! Lip Balm, and summer scrunchie! So far with three boxes, there hasn't been any repetition and each box is a true surprise, as you don't know what items to expect! Yesterday, I also received another little surprise from Society of Lovely at work, which was a RAOL (Random Act of Lovely), a little box of mini treats to gift on to someone else. Such an amazing gesture and it's one of the many reasons I love SOL. You can sign up one of Society of Lovely's three different subscriptions here.
