The August 'Goddess Box' by Society of Lovely

I'll start this off by saying that the August Box is one of my favourite box from Society of Lovely! Of course, I've liked every box so far or else I wouldn't subscribe, but I loved every item in the August Box which makes it one of my faves, and you'll see why. The August Box contains beauty products, glam for your home and you, and a sweet treat. The Goddess Box is one of three boxes that you can subscribe to and is $65 NZD per month. The two other boxes that you can subscribe to are Little Lovelies at $40 NZD per month and Envy at $105 NZD per month (shipping is included in the price). With Little Lovelies, you receive 4-5 items, with Goddess Gifts, you get 5-7 items, and with Envy, you get the full package, with around 8-11 items. The August Box contained six items.

1. Hair Clip by Callista Morgan Designs

I love this classy hair clip by Callista Morgan Designs with it's mix of gold, dark brown and beige. I steer clear of hair clips unless they're quite plain, but this adds a bit of pop without being too much. It's the perfect clip to keep my fringe to the side as I haven't been able to get to the hair salon due to Level 3 lockdown.

3. Liquid Buds Eye Makeup Remover by Model Co

How nifty are these little makeup remover buds by Australian brand, ModelCo!? ModelCo have a large range of beauty and cosmetics products, with all of their products being cruelty-free and they also have a vegan range. Each bud contains a liquid which removes eye makeup, all by snapping the tip of the bud which releases the liquid. This pack of 24 comes in a small snap case so you can carry it around on the go for quick touch ups. I've been excited to try these as I'm terrible at removing my makeup, I always think I've got it all off and then I wake up with panda eyes! So after removing my makeup as well as I could, I used one of these buds and it worked a treat, removing all of the excess eye makeup that I didn't get the first time!

4. Anoint Skincare Lotion Bar

The fourth item in the August Goddess Box is this beautiful Lotion Bar by Kerikeri-based company, Anoint Skincare. Anoint Skincare use natural ingredients and carefully selected essential oils to create their skincare range. Their products are handcrafted in small batches, are cruelty-free, and they use recyclable or reusable packaging. This is Anoint Skincare's Rose Geranium Lotion Bar and it is incredibly nourishing and moisturising on your skin. This Lotion Bar contains a blend of: Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Pure New Zealand Beeswax, and Rose Geranium Essential Oil.

Rose Geranium has several beneficial properties: it promotes relaxation and emotional stability, is anti-aging, and an anti-oxidant. I also adore Anoint's packaging which is free of plastic! Each lotion bar is wrapped in grease-proof paper, popped into a cute vintage style box, and has their signature wax seal. It then comes in a tin which allows you to keep your lotion bar fresh and clean. This is great as there aren't that many naked products out there that come in tins to protect the product. The scent of the Rose Geranium is lovely and strong and with the combination of the lotion bar melting from the heat of your skin, it's a relaxing experience. This is definitely the most moisturising and best smelling lotion bar I've ever used.

5. Emily McDowell Sticky Notes

I'm a sucker for a chunky pad of sticky notes and these little guys are my lifeline. I'm always running out of sticky notes and can't go a day without them so this a much needed inclusion in this month's box!

6. Côte Noir Perfumed Natural Gardenias

Here we have one of the most luxurious items I've ever received in a subscription box, and it's this gorgeous jar of Perfumed Natural Touch Double Gardenia's by Côte Noir. Côte Noir make candles, diffusers, perfumed flowers for your home, and I was lucky to receive one of their perfumed flowers! Everything from the packaging, to the jar, to the flowers, to the fragrance itself, looks and feels luxurious and this on my subscription box favourites list. The gardenia's don't look fake or tacky at all, and you can tell that they are hand crafted with care. The flowers are set in a gel, the petals have a natural coating, and are infused with a Gardènia Blanc - White Gardenia fragrance. As well as the gorgeous jar and flowers, I also received a bottle of gardenia-scented perfume which I can spray onto the petals each week to refresh the scent. This is a pretty special and amazing item for me as I work for a candle supply and fragrance wholesaler, and I haven't seen anything like this before!

Verdict: I can't fault this box, at all. Again, it's one of my fave boxes by Society of Lovely, as I'm using every item in the box, and I actually really like every item. Sometimes, if I don't love an item in a box, I'll give it to someone who I know will enjoy it, but there's no way I'm parting with anything in the August Goddess Box! Society of Lovely do surprises well, they don't give away what's in the box, and then when you do get your monthly SOL fix, you're genuinely and happily surprised as they always mix it up and throw something in that you'd never think of getting!
