My Treat's 'October Glow' Box
It's Autumn now and as we prepare to move into warmer months, it is super important to look after your skin even more. We all know that NZ gets high radiation levels during Summer, and if you don't practise good skincare, your skin is going to see and feel the effects. Thankfully, My Treat has us covered with an October box full of skin treats to keep you looking and feeling glowing and moisturised (just add sunblock to your Summer skin routine!). My Treat offer two different monthly subscriptions; the Body Box, and the Mini Box, as well as a variety of one-off boxes featuring popular items from previous boxes. Today I am reviewing My Treat's 'Body Box' which is $38.95 NZD per month, along with $6 shipping. The October Box contains treats from loved brands such as: Linden Leaves, Rata & Co., and Wet n' Wild, as well as new brands: Sirius Skincare and Grounded.
1. Probiotic Face Serum by Rata & Co.
The first product in the 'October Glow' Box is the Probiotic Face Serum by Christchurch based skincare company, Rata & Co. Rata & Co. create skincare products using natural ingredients to help the appearance of skin, are free of Parabens, and all of their products are cruelty-free. I've used several products from Rata & Co.'s Probiotic range including their face and eye creams, and they are some of the most gentle yet moisturising products I've ever used on my skin. The Probiotic Face Cream contains a special Milk Peptide which acts as a skin barrier and encourages skin renewal, as well as: Aloe Leaf Juice, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil, Acai Fruit Oil, and Ginseng Extract. Most serums tend to be quite clear, whereas this serum is quite different, it has a milky colour to it and feels soothing on the skin, so I'll be incorporating this serum into my Summer skincare routine.
2. Gold Toning Face & Body Mist by Linden Leaves
Next we have a product that is going to make you feel like you're glowing for sure, and it's the Gold Toning Face & Body Mist by Linden Leaves. I've used this before as it featured back in the October 2018 box, and was very popular amongst subscribers. During the warmer months there is nothing better than spritzing your face with a refreshing mist, and this will be a product I'll be carrying around with me everywhere! The Gold Toning Face & Body Mist has a beautiful, light fragrance to it, as well as luxurious 23 karat gold leaf, and contains ingredients such as: amaranth and red rice for skin hydration along with witch hazel and chamomile to soothe. I'm happy to see this product back in My Treat's boxes as it feels and smells refreshing on your face.
3. Coffee Kola Facial Scrub by Sirius Skincare
The third product in the 'October Glow' Box is by a brand that's new to My Treat's boxes, and that's Sirius Skincare. You'll find the Sirius Skincare Facial Scrub along with a range of other skincare products on the Spacify Store, an online store that has two more unique brands, Spaceman Coffee and SubOrbital Tea. Sirius Skincare's products are free of parabens, and do not contain artificial additives, synthetic fragrances or dyes, and no soy-based ingredients. Instead you'll find plant-based ingredients, sourced responsibly, and never tested on animals. Their Coffee Kola Facial Scrub contains Vitamin B, is anti-inflammatory, and is great for anti-aging, dark circles, and acne. This scrub contains: cane sugar, to remove dry skin and brighten skin; coconut oil, which contains antioxidants such as Vitamins A & E; coffee, which is a natural exfoliator; Kola Nut, which can help cleanse, tighten pores, and dry out oil; and Sandalwood, to cleanse pores and reduce inflammation. I enjoyed using this scrub, it's very exfoliating and this did a great job in removing dry skin around my nose, something I've been suffering from through Winter. My skin was left feeling soft but also moisturised from the coconut oil in this scrub, and this a nice skin treat that I'll be using at the end of each week!
4. Mango Lip Scrub by Grounded Body Scrub
The fourth item in this month's box is a Mango Lip Scrub by UK brand, Grounded Body Scrub. This lip scrub contains extra virgin coconut oil to soften and hydrate lips, and jojoba oil for a bit of shine. These are good to use to remove dry, dead skin from your lips, and I recommend a lip scrub before applying lippy! Grounded Lip Scrubs are also edible and their entire range is cruelty-free!
5. Wet n Wild's Megalength Mascara
The last item in the October box is the Megalength Mascara by Wet n Wild. This mascara is waterproof, and contains a pigmented formula that will darken and lift lashes, and is clump-free. The Megalength Mascara also contains Vitamin E to soften, moisturise, and protect your lashes. The applicator brush I quite like, it's thin and the bristles are small, which makes for precise application. It's not a heavy mascara either, so this is one that I would use daily for work.
Verdict: The 'October Glow' Box contained a diverse range of skincare products that will make sure your skin feels as looks glowing. This month's products all contain natural ingredients that will hydrate, cleanse, soften, and moisturise your skin. My faves in this month's box would have to be the Rata & Co. Probiotic Face Serum, and the Linden Leaves Gold Toning Face & Body Mist. I also really liked the Coffee Kola Facial by Sirius Skincare and hope to see more of their products in future boxes.
