My Treat's 'January Restore & Replenish' Box
I started reviewing My Treat's boxes back in 2017, and it's been amazing seeing My Treat's boxes change and grow over the years. From opening up the January box, I have a feeling that this year is going to be My Treat's best year yet! My Treat offer two different monthly subscriptions; the Body Box, and the Mini Box, as well as a variety of one-off boxes featuring popular items from previous boxes. Today I am reviewing My Treat's 'Body Box' which is $38.95 NZD per month, along with $6 shipping. The 'January Restore & Replenish' Box contains seven products to pamper yourself with, from: Karmenism., Matakana Superfoods, By Nature, Morgan Taylor, and Goodness.
This month's magazine contains gorgeous photos and detailed info on the brands behind the products as well as lifestyle tips and recipes.
1. Jasmine Body Oil by karmenism.
Next up, we have a new company featuring in My Treat's boxes, karmenism. Karmenism have a large range of skincare and beauty products that are crafted in small batches in Christchurch and are natural, non-toxic, cruelty-free, and free of silicone, parabens, and phthalates. This Jasmine Body Oil is beautiful, and has a soft, sensual, floral scent. Jasmine has always been one of my favourite scents, but sometimes it can be quite a strong fragrance and not for everyone. This Body Oil is perfectly balanced and as well as jasmine, contains: sunflower oil, lime essential oil, magnolia essential oil, and rose petals. Karmenism's packaging and labelling is stunning, and it's great to see minimal use of plastic. I love rubbing this oil into my skin after getting out of the shower, and how relaxed it makes me feel. I'm very impressed with the Jasmine Body Oil by karmenism, and hope to see more of their products in future boxes!
2. Banana Joe Chips by Matakana Superfoods
Next, we have two packs of Banana Joe's Chips which you'll find at Matakana Superfoods. I've seen a couple products this year that Matakana Superfoods stock, and I'm going to have to do a bit of a shopping haul from them soon as they have a massive range of healthy snacks and ingredients!! Have to say, when I first saw the words 'Siracha' and 'Thai Sweet Chilli', I was excited, I live off spice and can pair Siracha with anything, but combined with the words 'Banana Chips', I did think, "Huh?". I associate banana chips with childhood memories of me being envious of seeing kids at school with their banana chips and begging my Mum to buy me some bulk bin banana chips, and then once I had them I could only eat a couple because they were thick slices, and too sweet, and not really chips. So I was skeptical seeing these two bags in this month's box, but these banana chips are thin, light, crunchy, and are the perfect balance of tangy and sweet. And they are chock full of probiotics and prebiotics, with each pack containing up to three bananas.
Price: $4.29 per bag
3. Rosehip Oil Every Day Cleanser by Goodness Skincare
Using a good cleanser that is gentle on my skin is such an important part of my skincare routine, especially as I have seborrheic dermatitis. The Rosehip Oil Every Day Cleanser by NZ skincare brand, Goodness, is a godsend right now, as I need to be using products that are kind to my skin. The Goodness skincare range is cruelty-free and vegan friendly, and this cleanser contains: reship oil, chia seed oil, and calming aloe vera. This cleanser is just what my face needs and works well in leaving my face clean, refreshed, and calm.
4. Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer
The fourth item in the January My Treat box, is a bottle of nail polish by cruelty-free nail brand, Morgan Taylor. Even one coat gives you good coverage, and two coats of this polish is all you need. It's fast drying, the applicator brush is really good, and you can tell that this is a high quality nail lacquer. The shade I received is called 'My Other Wig is a Tiara', and I'm actually really digging this metallic turquoise colour, as it's not what I would usually wear but it pairs well with white dresses and is a fun shade for Summer!
5. Jade Face Roller
Next, is a Jade Face Roller which has many benefits for your skin. Jade is known for being calming and cooling, and this roller is like a massage for your face! I've never used one before but I've always wanted one, so I was delighted as soon as I saw this in the 'Restore & Replenish' box. Some of the skin benefits of a face roller are: promoting circulation, helps remove eye bags, smooths lines and wrinkles, calms your skin, promotes lymphatic drainage, and improves elasticity. I've been struggling with my skin over the past few months, with a lot of dryness and redness, so I'm super keen on using the Jade Face Roller daily to see if it helps calm my redness. I popped the roller in the fridge for a couple of hours for extra coolness, and followed the instructions in the My Treat magazine. Using this roller helps my skin absorb the moisturiser, makes for a relaxing face massage, and really helped soothe the red patches on my face!
6. By Nature's Softening Foot Balm
The last product in this month's box is the Softening Foot Balm by By Nature. I'm pleased to see By Nature back in the first My Treat box of the year, as By Nature have consistently been giving us amazing products over the years. The Softening Foot Balm contains: NZ Manuka honey, aloe vera, peppermint oil, and Vitamins A, C, and E. This foot balm is great for dry, cracked skin, and popping it in the fridge for a bit feels even better combined with the tingling of the peppermint oil!
Verdict: What an gorgeous box to start the year off with! My Treat's 'January Restore & Replenish' Box contained a variety of different face and body products, as well as some yummy snacks. All of the beauty products in this month's box helped nourish my skin and I was able to enjoy a relaxing pamper session in the comfort of my own home. You can sign up to My Treat's February Box here.
