My Treat's 'February Self Love' Box
The second box of the year by My Treat, the 'February Self Love' Box, continues on from the wonderful January box and contains a mix of skincare, haircare, and food products to enjoy whilst you take time out of your day to practice some self love and care. My Treat offer two different monthly subscriptions; the Body Box, and the Mini Box, as well as a variety of one-off boxes featuring popular items from previous boxes. Today I am reviewing My Treat's 'Body Box' which is $38.95 NZD per month, along with $6 shipping. The February box contains six treats from My Treat regulars: By Nature, and Skye Candle & Body Care, as well as new brands: Matakana Superfoods and Fox By Nature.
1. By Nature Hydro Firm Lace Face Mask
The first product in the 'February Self Love' Box is the Hydro Firm Lace Collagen Shot Face Mask from By Nature. This face mask is infused with Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen, Co-Enzyme Q10, and Vitamin E. The Hyaluronic Acid helps with fine lines, and uneven skin tone, and Co-Enzyme Q10 soothes and clears your skin. Using a face mask is one way I like to practice self love with my skin, and I recommend using one, once a week. I popped this sheet mask (made from lace which was different!) on for ten minutes, and lay down and relaxed with some music. With my redness as my skin goes through stages of flaring up, this mask was cooling and really helped soothe my face!
2. Fox by Nature's Plumping Serum
The second facial product in this month's box is a Plumping Serum by a new brand to feature in My Treat's boxes, Fox by Nature. Fox by Nature are a luxury NZ, natural skincare brand that use small batch oils and botanicals in their products. Fox by Nature's Plumping Serum rejuvenates your skin, plumps and smooths, tightens, and hydrates. The Plumping Serum contains: Hyaluronic Acid which smoothes, and plumps; Aloe Vera, a soothing anti-inflammatory; Rose Hydrosol, which tightens skin; and Pro Vitamin B5, to boost and hydrate. You can smell the beautiful rose in this serum, and applied a few drops to my face, and used the Jade Face Roller from the January My Treat box, to massage the serum into my skin. Combining the Plumping Serum with a cold face roller makes from a luxurious face treatment and this serum is lightweight and absorbs into my skin nicely, making it perfect to use in the morning before I pop on my makeup.
3. Hemp Dark Chocolate Superfood Bar & Dark Chocolate Collagen Beauty Bar by Matakana Superfoods
Next, we have not one, but two sweet treats by Matakana Superfoods. Subscribers will receive both the Hemp Superfood Dark Chocolate Bar containing hemp seed, red raspberry and lucuma, and the Dark Chocolate Collagen Beauty Bar containing cacao nibs and dates. I don't have a big sweet tooth but I am partial to a good chocolate bar every now and again, and Matakana Superfoods have me covered with their decadent bars. These bars have a mix of subtle sweetness, chewiness, and crunch, and make for a light, after dinner desert fix!
Price: $4.99 each
4. Deep Cleansing Microfibre Puffs by Skye Candle & Bodycare
Another self-love product in the February My Treat box, is a set of Deep Cleansing Microfibre Puffs by My Treat regular, Skye Candle & Bodycare. I love this NZ company, as all of their products I've tried have been wonderful, natural, smell amazing, and use eco-friendly packaging. These Microfibre Puffs can be used to remove makeup either with just water or paired with a cleansing cream. You'll get up to 200 uses per pad and are machine washable and hypoallergenic. I've been cleaning my face with re-useable pads for a a few months now, and it feels so much nicer cleaning your skin with them, and knowing that you're not throwing away makeup wipes on the daily. Skye Candle & Bodycare's Puffs, are soft and gentle on my skin, easy to clean, and quickly remove makeup from my face!
5. By Nature's Coconut Hair Oil
The last product in this month's box, is the Coconut Hair Oil Nourishing Deep Treatment from By Nature. Subscribers will receive either Coconut or the Argan Hair Oil Nourishing Deep Treatment. These Hair Oils penetrate into your hair to provide nourishment and shine, something I definitely need in my life as I straighten my hair daily. The Nourishing Deep Treatment contains: Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, and Vitamin E. A little goes a long way and this oil is easy to use, just apply a few drops to the palm of your hands and apply from the tips to the mid-shaft of your hair after towel drying. I applied the Hair Oil and then proceeded to blow dry my hair as normal. I'm usually loathe to putting products in my hair, especially oil treatments, and that's because I hate the heavy feeling of product in my hair. But this Hair Oil Nourishing Treatment is surprisingly light, made blow drying my hair a hell of a lot easier, and made my hair feel softer than it has in months! And it's also affordable! I'll be continuing to use this product once a week and I'm pleasantly surprised as I've found a hair product that I like and will use!
Verdict: My Treat's boxes have always been good, hence why I've written about this company for several years now, but this year's boxes so far have been a winner for me as I've loved and regularly used every single product in both the January and February boxes! Each box has variety, which is something I look for in a subscription box, and you'll find edible treats, products for your face, body, or hair, and accessories from month to month. My birthday's next month so I'm especially looking forward to the March box where I can enjoy treats on my birthday, but every month feels like your birthday or Christmas when you see your My Treat box delivery arrive!
