My Treat's 'December Christmas Gift' Box
Here we have the final box of 2020 from My Treat, and it's their 'December Christmas Gift' Box! This year has been a strange one, and the highlight of each month for myself has been receiving my subscription boxes, especially from My Treat. Each of the 12 boxes this year from My Treat have been full of useful, beautiful, high quality products made by New Zealand brands. My Treat offer two different monthly subscriptions; the Body Box, and the Mini Box, as well as a variety of one-off boxes featuring popular items from previous boxes. Today I am reviewing My Treat's 'Body Box' which is $38.95 NZD per month, along with $6 shipping. The December Box contains treats from loved brands such as: Linden Leaves, By Nature, and Goodbye Ouch, as well as new brands: Cougar Candle Co., Arome Ambiance, and Goodgirl xo.
1. By Nature's Coffee + Coconut Oil Clay Face Mask
First up, in the December Box, is the Coffee + Coconut Oil Exfoliating Clay Face Mask by My Treat regular, By Nature. I've used many of By Nature's skincare products, including several of their face masks, and all of their products are of great quality, affordable, and leave your skin feeling hydrated. This face mask contains: Kaolin; Bentonite; Walnut Shell Powder; Coffee, to exfoliate your skin; and Pacific Coconut Oil, rich in antioxidants and softens, soothes, and moisturises your skin. To use, you squeeze the contents and apply a thin layer to your face, sit back and relax for ten minutes, and then wash your face in circular motions with warm water. After all the Christmas festivities over the past week, I've been looking and feeling tired, so this mask definitely helped brighten and revive my skin, and I'm feeling much better!
2. Linden Leaves Aromatherapy Synergy Regenerating Hand Cream
The second product in this month's box is the Aromatherapy Synergy Regenerating Hand Cream by Linden Leaves. Linden Leaves are another amazing natural, NZ skincare company that regularly feature in My Treat's boxes, are certified by BioGro and NATRUE, and they ensure that they support sustainable and ethical business principles, as well as supporting low carbon footprint practices. The Aromatherapy Synergy Regenerating Hand Cream contains: Cocoa Butter, Evening Primrose Oil to nourish and hydrate, Aloe Vera Leaf extract, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Sesame Oil, Sage & Rosemary extracts, and scented with rose, geranium, and ylang ylang. I usually tend to gift the hand creams I receive in boxes as I'm not much of a hand cream user, but I'll be holding onto this hand cream as it has the most beautiful scent and it makes my hands feel super soft.
3. Sweet Pea & Jasmine Soy Wax Melts by Cougar Candle Co
Next up, we have a pack of Soy Wax Melts by a new company to feature in My Treat's boxes, Cougar Candle Co. Cougar Candle Co are based in the Bay of Plenty and make natural, hand poured, soy candles and melts, diffusers, and bath and body products.
These soy melts come in a pack of six, and are designed to be used in electric burners or tea light burners. I love the sweet, floral fragrance of Sweet Pea & Jasmine, and soy melts make a nice change to burning candles. These creamy soy melts fill the room with its gorgeous scent, and you'll get around 70 hours burn time from one pack.
4. Citrus Candy Soap Trio Set by Arome Ambiance
The fourth item in the 'Christmas Gift' Box, is the Citrus Candy Soap Trio Set by Arome Ambiance, each individually gift wrapped and tied with a bow, and this is the cutest set of soaps I've seen (so cute that I didn't want to unwrap them)! Subscribers will receive one of three scents: Citrus Candy, Tahitian Lime, or Orange Sherbet. I received the Citrus Candy scented soaps, and these smell refreshing and delicious! The smaller one makes for a great hand basin soap, whilst the bigger soaps are perfect for the shower.
5. Manuka Balm by Goodbye Ouch
Next, we have the Manuka Balm by Northland-based company, Goodbye. Goodbye featured in last month's My Treat box with their Insect Repellant & Bite Soother, and they make a range of useful, natural products to protect and heal your skin. Goodbye Ouch's Manuka Balm contains healing ingredients such as: Certified Organic Beeswax, Apricot Oil, Avocado & Jojoba Oils, Raspberry Seed Oil, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Manuka, Frankincense, and Geranium. This balm has a wide range of uses, and helps with: wind burn, chaffing, cuts, rashes, grazes, cracked skin, blisters, and bug bites. While writing this review, I burnt my bottom lip with some hot soup, and put a bit of this balm on my lips, and had instant relief, and my lips are still feeling moisturised a few hours later. I'm pretty accident prone, and always end up with cuts and grazes, so I'll be using this Manuka Balm a lot!
6. Charcoal Konjac Sponge by Goodgirl xo
The last product in the December Box, is the Charcoal Konjac Sponge by Goodgirl xo. Goodgirl xo are an online store that sell products that are all natural, eco-friendly, cruelty-free and plastic-free alternatives. On their website you'll find products for your skin, teeth, hair, periods, and the body. This here is their Charcoal Konjac Sponge which is made from 100% natural plant fibre from the roots of the konjac potato. The konjac sponge gently exfoliates and cleanses with this one being infused with charcoal, great for acne prone skin. Using a konjac sponge is a shower essential for me, as they leave your skin feeling amazing and can be used with or without soap. These sponges will last you 4-6 weeks, and are also 100% biodegradable so you can pop them into your compost bin once they're done!
Verdict: This has been the best year of My Treat boxes, with each month's box full of exciting new products for your home, hair, skin, and body. My Treat have continued to include popular and loved NZ brands, as well as showcasing many new, local, small businesses. The 'December Christmas Gift' Box contained over $70 worth of natural products with a variety of treats that I'm sure every subscriber loved! My Treat are one of my fave subscription box company's and I cannot wait to see what My Treat bring in 2021! You can start the new year off right and sign up to My Treat's January Box here.
