My Treat 'November Body + Underwear' Box
With the second-to-last box of 2019, My Treat have brought all of the goodies to the table with their November box. This box has a popular theme amongst subscribers and is a favourite returning theme for myself, with this month's box being the 'New Zealand Made November Box'! We have a couple of new brands in this box, such as Koa Organics and Doubtless Bay Botanicals, that are big hit for me and I'm sure they will be for anyone else that received the November Box. We also have returning favourites: Kawakawa Rotorua, Linden Leaves, and By Nature. My Treat offer three different monthly subscriptions: the Underwear Box, the Body Box, and the Body + Underwear Box. I'll be reviewing their Body + Underwear Box which is $48.95 NZD per month, along with $6 shipping. My Treat's boxes are beyond good value as you get well over $100 NZD worth of products, and they ensure that their shipping is earth friendly by not using plastic to send out their boxes. The 'New Zealand Made November Box' contains two pairs of underwear and five full sized products.
The monthly My Treat magazine talks about each of the featured brands and products in detail, along with useful tips and info for your health and wellbeing.
1. Linden Leaves Balancing Toner
If you're yet to try any products by NZ skincare brand, Linden Leaves, then you need to introduce yourself to their products stat! Thanks to My Treat's boxes, I've been lucky enough to try many of their products and they have all been amazing. Toner is a must-have in my bathroom cabinet and I always start my skincare routine off with toner. Toners help control acne, shrink pores, balances your skin's pH, protects, and makes your skin feel refreshed. In the summertime I like to carry around a bottle of toner with me for an instant skin refresh. Linden Leaves are accredited by NATRUE, meaning they are a 100% certified natural cosmetics company, so you know that they each product of theirs is good for you. This toner contains Pohutukawa which has natural toning properties, and Chamomile which soothes skin and improves skin tone which makes this toner great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. As you can see, Linden Leaves always deliver their products in beautiful, yet practical packaging and the pump works well - I only needed to use two pumps for even, full-face coverage. This is a good toner that I would buy and use often.
2. Kawakawa Rotorua Lip Balm
Another brand returning to My Treat's boxes is Kawakawa Rotorua! I've used their Underarm Balm, Bath Salts, and Healing Balm, all wondrous products thanks to the healing properties of the Kawakawa plant and the love put into making them. Native to New Zealand, the Kawakawa plant is used to heal the body both internally and externally, and has anti inflammatory, antiseptic, and anaesthetic properties. Kawakawa Rotorua are all about sustainability, by respectfully harvesting and replanting the Kawakawa plant. Kawakawa Rotorua's lip balm contains Kawakawa oil, olive oil, coconut oil, natural beeswax, Vitamin E oil, Manuka honey, and Vanilla extracts to ensure super soft and moisturised lips. This lip balm has a light vanilla fragrance, and wow - it is the most moisturising lip balm I think I've ever used and I have to say, it's probably one of the best lip balms ever made.
3. My Treat Underwear
I honestly don't what I would do without my monthly dose of underwear by My Treat. I never thought underwear could be life changing but their underwear is as they are always comfortable, soft, and the perfect fit for my body. This month, I received a black and a white pair, perfect for light and dark outfits. Their underwear is made from polyester and spandex, and each pair has a beautiful lace trim. Note, My Treat make underwear with realistic sizing for real women!
Price: $19.95 each
4. By Nature Moisturising Hand Creme
By Nature Skincare are a much-loved regular in My Treat's boxes, who have a very large range of cruelty-free, natural products that are actually affordable, and you can find their products in stores such as The Warehouse and supermarkets. Being outside in the NZ sun, it's important to keep every part of your body protected and moisturised after, including your hands! I tend to wear latex gloves often at work, and the powder from the gloves can leave my hands looking and feeling quite dry, so this is a great product to have at my desk. This Moisturising Hand Creme contains Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and Vitamin E to soften and improve skin quality and strengthen nails, along with smoothing lines. The creme itself has a strong coconut scent which I love (who doesn't love the smell of coconut?!) and doesn't leave your hands feeling greasy. You also only need a little dollop for full hand coverage, so this tube will last you long time.
5. Doubtless Bay Botanicals Bath Salts
In the 'New Zealand Made November Box', My Treat have introduced a new brand which is Doubtless Bay Botanicals. Based in the beautiful Doubtless Bay in Northland, this company creates vegan, plant-based, natural products for the bath and body. Their Bath Salts contain Epsom salts, sea salt, Hibiscus flower extract, and lime, mandarin, and lavender essential oils. First off, the packaging is elegant and I was blown away when I opened this month's box and saw such a large tub of bath salts! I was even more wowed when I opened the tub and smelt the strong fragrance of the mandarin and lime essential oils. Luckily this morning was a bit cooler than it has been for weeks, so I drew a bath and sprinkled a good handful of these bath salts in. It made for a relaxing soak, and the Epsom salts helped soothe my tight muscles. If you don't have a bath though, you can still reap the benefits of this product by using it in a facial steam or as an exfoliator in the shower. You could even use these salts in a foot bath for tired and achy feet. This is a beautiful product and you get a lot in the one tub (250 grams), plenty to use in several baths!
6. Koa Organics Magnesium Body Butter
The last product in this month's box is a pot of Magnesium Body Butter by Rotorua-based body-care company, Koa Organics. Koa Organics make body care products that contain natural, plant-based, organic ingredients including this Lavender Magnesium Body Butter. From the reviews I've read, people are impressed by this product and so am I. This body is vegan friendly and contains ingredients to soothe muscles, and aches and pains. I've been having some serious muscle pain in my neck and am going to physio tomorrow to try figure out what's going on, but to have this body butter as an aid when it flares up will be helpful. Sometimes I also struggle to unwind at night and fall asleep so I'll be putting this on before bed for both a better sleep and to help with the aches.
Koa Organic's Body Butter contains Organic Shea Butter, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Magnesium Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Candelila Wax, Vitamin E, Grapefruit Seed Extract, and Lavender Essential Oil. It's soft, creamy and smooth butter with the most lovely Lavender scent to it, and I could really feel it working on my sore neck after just one application. Can't wait to use it tonight as well!
Verdict: The 'New Zealand Made November Box' has to be one of my favourite boxes of 2019, and it's clear that the My Treat team have put a lot of love and thought into bringing subscribers a box that truly showcases some of the great skincare brands that we have in New Zealand. I don't have a favourite item in this box as they are all wonderful! With over $120 worth of product in just this one box, My Treat's boxes are one you definitely need to subscribe to!
