Doubtless Bay Botanicals Product Haul

Today I'm doing something a bit different with my blog, instead of writing a subscription box review with products from a range of different brands, I'll instead be reviewing a range of different products by one New Zealand brand. Doubtless Bay Botanicals have kindly given me several of their products to try out and let you guys know what I think of them. Doubtless Bay Botanicals are, as the name suggests, based in the beautiful Doubtless Bay, on the east coast of Northland, New Zealand. After two years of research and development by founder Regan O'Brien, Doubtless Bay Botanicals was created. Doubtless Bay Botanicals have a varied range of skincare products, with each of them being vegan, plant-based, and natural. I'm delighted to be try out five of Doubtless Bay Botanicals products, as I've used their Bath Salts which were featured back in My Treat's November 2019 box, and I was impressed by their packaging, the fragrance, and the product itself.

1. Hand & Body Lotion

First up, we have the Hand & Body Lotion by Doubtless Bay Botanicals. This lotion comes in a weighty, matte glass bottle with a pump for easy application, and is a generous 150mls. The formula for this lotion is non-greasy and contains moisturising ingredients such as: shea butter, avocado oil, chia seed oil, and sunflower seed oil. It's also infused with Hibiscus flower and Chamomile extract, with both being beneficial for your skin. Hibiscus flower has anti-aging and purifying benefits, so it's going to help increase elasticity and break down dead skin. Chamomile is great for dry skin and is anti-inflammatory. It's also anti-irritating and hypoallergenic, so it can be used on sensitive skin. One of the nicest lotions I've used, this lime and coconut scent, feels cool, soothing, and very light on the skin, and is what it says - not greasy at all. With it's tropical scent and lightness, this is the body lotion I'll be using in Summer.

2. Vegan Lip Balm

Having a good quality lip balm is important for me as it's my most-used product, and is something I carry around with me everywhere. The Vegan Lip Balm contains: candelilla wax, coconut oil, shea butter, and peppermint and lemon essential oils. This lip balm is a good one with its refreshing, peppermint scent, which I prefer to the many fruity lip balms that I do have. Both shea butter and coconut oil are good for dry, chapped lips, with shea butter also having anti-inflammatory properties. Peppermint oil is a soothing oil and will feel cooling on wind or sunburnt lips. This isn't a heavy lip balm and after an hour of wear, my lips still felt moisturised and soft.

3. Body Oil

This plant-based body oil is a luxurious one, containing a blend of botanical extracts and oils to hydrate dry skin. The Body Oil contains oils of: sweet almond, macadamia nut, grape-seed, olive, avocado, Marula, and sunflower seed, along with extracts of Hibiscus flower and rosemary, combined with Vitamin E, rose geranium essential oil, and dried rose petals. This oil is packed with nourishing ingredients that your skin will love, and you don't need to use much of this oil to feel the benefits. You can use this body oil weekly, and can either massage it into your skin or add 1-2 tablespoons to a bath for a moisture infused, relaxing soak. You can really smell the rose geranium come through in this oil and like the body lotion, it's moisturising without being greasy. So far, I'm enjoying each of Doubtless Bay Botanicals products as they all work wonders on dry skin, without leaving you feeling sticky, slimy, and oily. This body isn't mine to keep though as my Mum has taken for herself as she loves it - I'd definitely recommend this body oil as a luxurious gift!

4. Body Scrub

I can't get over how amazing the packaging is. Each jar and bottle I've held feels weighty, and you get a lot of product for your money. And then each jar is packaged in a beautifully designed, recyclable box. Doubtless Bay Botanicals are big on sustainability and minimal plastic is used to package their products. It would be a shame to throw out these jars, so I'll be finding a way to repurpose them! Here we have their Body Scrub, which is both moisturising and exfoliating and comes in a generous 250 gram jar.

The Body Scrub contains: Epsom salts, natural sea salt, cane sugar, coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower seed oil, aloe vera extract, Hibiscus flower extract, and essential oils of lime, mandarin, and lavender. Sunflower seed oil, which is in several of the products, is rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, which helps with inflammation and helps the skin retain moisture. To use, I applied the scrub to wet skin, gently massaged it in, and then rinsed off (Note: you're going to have to jump in the shower and then turn it off to use a scrub as you don't want to get water in the jar). This is one of the best Body Scrub's I have used, with it's large chunks of sea and Epsom salts, it did a good job of exfoliating my skin and leaving it feel soft, and had a refreshing, citrusy smell that stayed all day!

5. Body Butter

The last product is the Body Butter. This shares the same lime and coconut fragrance as the Hand & Body Lotion and contains: shea butter, Babassu seed oil, olive oil, avocado oil, Hibiscus flower extract, and chamomile extract, to name a few. Babassu oil is made from 70% lipids, and is good for dry and damaged skin. This Body Butter is rich and creamy, and works wonders on my legs which are really dry during Winter. I like to use this after having a bath or shower, and unlike a lot of body butters, it's not thick or greasy at all.

Verdict: I really do like Doubtless Bay Botanicals skincare range, and there wasn't one product I didn't like. Each of these products does what it says, and all of them both smell and feel wonderful on your skin - it felt like I was in my own personal spa using these. I have to say I'm most impressed with the non-greasy formulas for these body products, I could use all of them in one day and my skin was left feeling soft and moisturised, without feeling like there were layers of product just sitting on my skin. I also liked the consistency in the scents, each have the right balance of fragrance and weren't overpowering. I have to mention again the packaging, beautifully designed and of high quality, they all look beautiful displayed on my bathroom shelf. It's also an affordable range as you get a lot of product for your buck and I think these body products would make a luxurious gift, without breaking your bank.
