My Treat 'September Body + Underwear' Box
This month's box from My Treat is called the 'September Spring Detox Box' and it contains some gorgeous face and body goodies to get you prepped for the warmer months. The September Box has returning brands such as the fabulous Nudi Point and Rata & Co., along with exciting new brands, Goodness and Aotearoad. My Treat offer three different monthly subscriptions, with this one being their 'Body + Underwear' Box which is $48.95 NZD per month, along with $6 shipping. The 'September Spring Detox Box' contained two pairs of underwear and 7 products.
1. Lighting Green Tea Sampler by Libertine Blends
This sample of two tea bags is by NZ tea company, Libertine Blends. This is an organic, hand-blended sencha green tea, with gingko biloba. It has a strong, beautiful floral scent, and with green being great, cleansing drink, this starts off this month's detox box perfectly. Gingko biloba is an ancient herb that stimulates blood flow to the brain. I've been feeling a bit scattered this week and this tea helped clear my mind and made me feel much brighter. It has a bold, smooth and refreshing taste, and is one of the best green teas I've tasted.
2. Goodness Eye Cream
Eye creams are a crucial part of my daily skincare routine so when I see an eye cream in my boxes, I'm happy as this is a product that I always need and will use. This is a twice-a-day eye cream made by NZ skincare company, Goodness, whose products are cruelty-free, natural, and vegan friendly. Some of the ingredients in this eye cream are: Sweet Almond Oil, Witch Hazel Extract, Coconut Oil, Chia Seed Oil, and Avocado Oil. The tube is a decent size, you're getting quite a bit of eye cream in the one tube, and is easy to dispense. The cream itself doesn't have a fragrance, but is moisturising while not feeling too heavy on your skin, and you don't need to use much to get full coverage under your eyes. It will be interesting to see if I notice any changes to the skin around my eyes over the next couple of months, fingers crossed!
3. My Treat Underwear
My Treat's monthly inclusion of two pairs of underwear will forever be one of my faves in every box I receive, as it's helped make my life easier, by removing the need to ever shop for underwear again. My Treat always wrap their underwear in cute little parcels!
The previous two boxes from My Treat did contain underwear that had a different style and fit slightly different to their usual underwear. So when I saw these two pairs returning in the September box, I did a little happy dance as this style and fit of underwear are what I know and love, and I swear that you won't find any other underwear that is as comfortable.
Price: $19.95 each
4. Aotearoad Natural Deodorant
Here, we have a beautiful Rose & Vanilla scented natural deodorant, by Auckland based company, Aotearoad. Aotearoad's deodorants are handmade, cruelty-free, vegan, and are free of aluminium and parabens. Their deodorants come in bio-degradable tube packaging, and are easy to use.
This is the first time I've used a natural deodorant in stick form, as most natural deodorants come in a jar and you have to apply the deodorant with your fingers. With Aotearoad's deodorant, you get a quick and mess-free application. Their deodorant also feels light, and not sticky which is really nice, and has a beautiful floral scent. I found that this deodorant lasts the entire work day and keeps body odour at bay.
I'd definitely recommend Aotearoad's deodorant and they have a nice range of unique fragrances available, along with other types of body products in stick form.
5. Organic Kombucha by Remedy Drinks
Next up, we have a can of Ginger Lemon Kombucha by Remedy Drinks. Remedy Drinks are a well known brand and you're sure to find their drinks in most supermarkets. I never get tired of Kombucha, it's one of the most refreshing drinks, and you can have this sparkling cultured drink without feeling bad about it. This one has a good ginger kick to it and pairs well with some breads and dips.
6. Ecobrush by Do Gooder
This Ecobrush is by Nelson based company, Do Gooder, who make a range of cool dental products that are good for both yourself and the environment. These bamboo toothbrushes are completely biodegradable, bar the bristles. All you need to do is chop off the bristles, and you can pop the bamboo handle in your compost or your garden. Do Gooder also work with a number of charities in NZ, and for every toothbrush you buy, one toothbrush will be donated to a child that does not have a toothbrush. This is so awesome to see and this is why I love NZ brands, so many of them give back to the community! This is a sturdy toothbrush, that helps give your teeth a good clean, and pairs well with activated charcoal.
7. 'Black to White' Activated Charcoal by Nudi Point
This large pot of Activated Charcoal by Nudi Point is a natural teeth whitener powder and contains no chemical nasties, just activated coconut charcoal. Nudi Point are a regular favourite in My Treat's boxes and have a large range of natural face and body products. I'm terrible at regularly using charcoal teeth whiteners, but I swear I'm going to stick to this and actually use the entire pot. You get a lot of product in the one pot, so this will last you a while. Be prepared though, it does make a mess and I'll be brushing my teeth in the laundry sink for an easy clean up.
8. Skin Brightening Face Oil by Rata & Co.
This Skin Brightening Face Oil is from Christchurch based company, Rata & Co.'s Superfood range. Rata & Co. have a gorgeous range of cruelty-free, natural, vegan friendly products, and they all come beautifully packaged. One of the key ingredients in this product is Flaxseed Oil. Flaxseed Oil contains Omega's-3, 6, and 9, which is good for dry and irritated skin. This oil also works brighten your complexion and bring life back to your skin. This face oil contains a blend of different oils including: Almond oil, Macadamia Seed oil, Linseed oil, Tomato Seed oil, and Cranberry Seed oil. The bottle contains a glass dropper to make for easy application, and for an oil, it's surprisingly non-greasy and doesn't leave your skin looking oily which is a big plus for me!
Verdict: I loved the September Detox Box and enjoyed using every item in this month's box. This box stayed true to it's theme and contained several products to help your body detox from the colder months and help get you ready for Summer. As always, variety and quantity is why My Treat are so successful and they ensure that each month, they are showcasing amazing New Zealand brands. You can sign up to My Treat's October Glow Box here.
