I AM Co.'s 'October Delight Box'

This is my first review of the Delight Box by I AM CO, and boy, was a delightful first box! I decided to try out a couple months of the Delight Box for a number of reasons. Each of their boxes contains a mix of up to ten healthy food and beauty products, and I've always been into my beauty products but since I've been doing My Food Bag, I've started to get more into food as well and am wanting to try out different food brands so this box seemed like the perfect way to get some food inspo! It's also an affordable box at $35 per month and with free shipping, along with a cool rewards program for subscribers. First impressions were great, with fast shipping and the packaging just wowed me. From the sturdy box, the paper and the print outs, a lot has gone into making these boxes look stunning.

It's wonderful to see that I AM Co. support Breast Cancer Foundation NZ and this month's product card has further information on Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, along with a handy card that contains info on breast changes and what to look out for with your own breasts.

In the October Delight box I received seven full-sized products and six sample sachets.

1. Kumara Crisps by Proper Crisps

The first food item in the Delight Box a bag of kumara chips by Proper Crisps. The kumara that Proper Crisps use are grown in Kaipara and this bag contains both red (Owairaka) and gold (Toka Toka) kumara, cooked in sunflower salt and seasoned with Marlborough sea salt. Proper Crisps make good quality crisps but you either love or hate kumara crisps and I'm not not a lover of these chips but I knew coming into this box, that there would be food that I have tried before and don't really like but also food that I've never tried before and will love!

2. Smooshed Protein Balls by Tasti

For a bit of a sweet treat we have a bag of roasted peanut and cacao protein balls and each packet contains five balls. The ingredients in these balls are dates, roasted peanuts, soy protein, cacao, coconut and sea salt and are vegan and GMO free. I've never been much of a fan of protein balls but they are good for a quick snack when you're feeling peckish and need a bit of a sweet fix and that is filling and will pick you up after a long day.

3. Pukka Tea Samples

I absolutely love herbal tea and I do require a daily tea fix so seeing these cute samples, especially more than one tea bag, made me happy! I actually have a box of their Detox tea made with aniseed, fennel and cardamom, but have yet to try their Womankind and Supreme Matcha Green teas. Pukka's Supreme Matcha Green is made with Sencha green tea, Pin Ho Wild Jade green tea, Indian green tea and Matcha powder and their Womankind tea is made with cranberry, rose and sweet vanilla. Pukka has a massive selection of teas and all of the herbs they use are 100% certified organic. These guys are also certified carbon neutral and certified FairWild, which warms both my heart and my tummy!

4. Essano Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

The highest value product in the October Delight Box are these two full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner by New Zealand beauty brand, Essano. These two bottles contain Argan Oil, which is rich in Vitamins A, C, and E, Macadamia and Pomegranate Oils, Aloe Vera and Plant Proteins, all to repair, protect, and moisturise your hair. Essano are certified organic, their products are free of sulphates and parabens, and they are cruelty-free and vegan. I've used Essano and their products work wonders and smell beautiful (this shampoo and conditioner smells amazing!). You can buy their products from your local supermarket and I think I've just found a new regular for my hair!

5. Heilala Vanilla Sample

The second sample in this box is this sachet of natural vanilla bean paste by Heilala Vanilla. It also came with this booklet that tells the story of Heilala (which is really interesting and can you read about Heilala's partnership with growers throughout Tonga over at their website), and several yummy recipes. There's a couple baking recipes that I'd like to try so I might need to get a bottle of this from the supermarket. Heilala Vanilla also make vanilla extract and syrup, pods, sugar and coconut oil. I'd never seen this brand before receiving this sample, which makes the Delight Box so great, you're receiving and trying out new products that you may not have ever heard of before or may not have noticed when doing your grocery shopping.

Price: Sample only but $8.99 per box Rating: ❤❤❤/5

6. Cacao & Caramel with Coconut Tisane Tea by The Cacao Cup

This cute sachet contains two cups of loose cacao & caramel with coconut Tisane tea, yum! I do prefer loose teas to teabags and am looking forward to steeping a cup of this on a cold night. If you're wondering what tisane is, it's tea made from the shell of the cacao bean. You can grab a large bag of this special blend here.

Price: Sample only but $17 for a 150g bag Rating: ❤❤❤/5

7. Organic Kombucha by Remedy Kombucha

I've never had kombucha before so I've been really curious to try this. I checked out Remedy Kombucha's website to find out more, and kombucha is a fermented sweet tea full of healthy bacteria and yeasts! Remedy Kombucha make a variety of different flavours and this one is Ginger Lemon, and it's really, really good. I don't drink much fizzy drinks as I find most of them just too sweet but this tastes like a lightly sweetened ginger beer. This drink is made by an Australian company but luckily Countdown supermarket stocks these cans of goodness.

Price: $3.00 per can Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤/5

8. WDOM Lactose Free Milk

This WDOM full cream, lactose free milk is made by WNS in New Zealand and is perfect for people who are lactose intolerant. WNS' milk is rBST-free and rBST is a synthetic hormone used to produce more milk in dairy cows :(. I don't drink milk other than in my coffee so I can't tell you much about how this milk tastes, but you can find WDOM milk at your local supermarket and try it for yourself.

Price: $4.99 Rating: ❤❤❤/5

9. Protein Pancake Mix by The Protein Bread Co

I haven't had pancakes in years so this packet of Protein Pancake mix by The Protein Bread Co is going make for a nostalgic breakfast. One of these packets makes six pancakes, have a hint of vanilla, are high in protein, low carb and gluten free. Can't wait to make these and I AM Co have also included a recipe that even utilizes the vanilla bean paste by Heilala!

Price: $4.00 AUD Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤/5

10. Manuka RX Ointment

The last item in the October Delight Box is the sample of natural manuka oil ointment by Manuka RX. This ointment contains manuka oil which is steam distilled from the leaf and twigs of the manuka bush and can be topically used for bites, dry skin, lips, burns, nappy rash, to name a few. I'll be using this on my lips as they get dry several times throughout the day.

Price: $1.95 for a sample Rating: ❤❤❤❤/5

Verdict: I'm pretty happy with the variety in the October Delight Box and think it's a great subscription box for NZ foodies! With seven full-sized products and four samples, I received a good mix of drinks and food to try along with a couple of beauty products. If you're not into sampling and a box of just full-sized products than this box may not be for you, but if you're wanting to try a range of different healthy food and drinks, then this is the box to subscribe to.
