My Treat 'August Body + Underwear' Box
This is my second box in my three-month subscription from My Treat and is chock full of gorgeous pamper items! With My Treat, you can subscribe to receive 3, 6, or 12 months of boxes. To begin with, I opted for the three-month subscription, but after my third box, I decided to extend for another 12 months as I've been so impressed with the content of each of the three boxes I've received. There are three different boxes you can subscribe to, with this one being the 'Body & Underwear' Box, which is $44.95 NZD per month along with $2.50 shipping. In the August box I received two pairs of underwear and nine beauty treats, some full-sized and some sample-sized. Below are the items I received.
1. Striped Peach Underwear
This pair of bikini-style underwear is super comfy and is my favourite out of the two pairs I received this month, just because they are so great to wear! They don't have a tag so I can't tell you the brand or size but they fit perfectly so I'm very happy.
2. OGX Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Samples
These two bottles are good sized samples that are great for travelling. I really like the packaging and I was excited to try these. I found that I easily got five washes from these 60ml bottles which is great because it gives you a good idea of whether or not this product is right for your hair. Both the shampoo & conditioner are quite thick so you won't need to use much on your hair. Fun fact, OGX products are free from SLS and parabens and are also cruelty free. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference to my hair after five washes so I wouldn't buy the full-sized bottles of these two but OGX do have a large range of products that look appealing so I would be interested in trying their other shampoos and conditioners.
Price: $17.99 per 385ml bottle
3. Summer's Eve Feminine Cleansing Wipes Sample
These wee packs of cleansing wipes are a handy addition to your sanitary bag as they'll help you feel re-freshened during your period. These wipes come in a box of 16 and are well worth buying. These cleansing wipes are soap-free and lightly fragranced but they are hypoallergenic, just note that they are not flushable so you will need to dispose of them in a bin.
Price: $11.00 for a box of 16 wipes
4. Chocolate Spoon by 'Annette's Little Treats'
I really love how My Treat collaborate with local businesses to provide beautiful hand made treats such as this chocolate spoon! Gorgeous packaging, these would be amazing little stocking fillers for Christmas that will make your hot choc even better.
5. Angel Professional Argan Active Oxygen Repair Sample
The last sample in this box is another sachet sample by the company Angel. I've yet to try this one as I have quite the stock pile of shampoos & conditioners at home but based on the Angel sample I tried last month, I'm sure this won't disappoint. As it also contains Argan oil like OGX samples, it will be interesting to compare the two brands, but I'm sure this will be a clear Argan oil winner.
6. Four-Way Nail Buffer Block
This handy little nail tool has four sides that indicate what each side does. The first side is for filing your nails, but it didn't really file my nails at all. The second side is for removing ridges, the third, for smoothing nails, and the fourth, for shining nails. After using all four sides, I didn't notice much of a difference to my nails, so this would be the only item that I've disliked in the boxes I've received so far.
7. Bgirl Professional Lacquer
I couldn't find any information on this brand of nail polish so I can't tell you the price and I'm not sure if it is cruelty free. It's not a fast drying polish and you will need two coats. I'd also recommend applying a top coat as this has a matte finish and it looks like it may easily chip.
As you can see above, I don't do anything to my cuticles and I'm not great at painting nails. I do love the dark wine colour of this polish but I think I'll get someone else to finish the rest of my nails.
8. Angel En Provence Sakura Energetic Body Lotion
As well as hair products, Angel also make some body products too. I absolutely adore the scent of this body lotion and this is my new favourite product that I'll be using on the daily and has the best smell of all my products! This lotion is not thick, nor greasy and feels delightful on the skin. The 'Sakura Energetic Body Lotion' contains the following organic ingredients: Prunus Speciosa Leaf Extract, Gingko BIloba Leaf Extract and Sweet Almond Oil. This body lotion is for neutral/dry skin but it isn't heavy on your skin and leaves you feeling soft with a gorgeous floral scent that lingers on the skin. For me, this is my most loved item in the August My Treat box.
9. BioTraitement Hair BB Cream
I haven't used a BB Cream for hair before, so I was a bit skeptical of a hair product that claims 10 benefits in one bottle. The 10 benefits of this BB Cream as stated on the label are: 1. It detangles hair, making it easier to comb; 2. It moisturises hair in depth; 3. It enhances & protects hair colour over time; 4. It controls frizz; 5. It improves styling hold; 6. It protects hair from heat sources; 7. It reduces drying time; 8. It gives hair body & volume; 9. It repairs & nourishes dry and damaged hair; 10. It prevents split ends. I've used it a handful of times and did find that it helped make my hair easier to comb and did hold my fringe in place but I'm not convinced that it does have 10 benefits.
Price: $11.50 for 30ml
10. smart & sexy Lace Boyshorts
So far, all of the underwear My Treat has sent me has fit perfectly, which surprises me as with some underwear I think, 'Oh that's going to be way too small', or 'Those are too large', but once I've put them on they all fit comfortably. I rarely wear boyshort-style underwear and this sexy lacy pair isn't one I'd be wearing to work of course, but you do feel sexy anything black and lacy.
11. Eau Thermale Avene XeraCalm Lipid-Replenishing Balm Sample
This sample of replenishing balm by Eau Thermale is an anti-irritant balm for easily irritated, dry skin that is prone to itchiness and redness. I don't have any issues with dryness and redness so I'll be giving this to a friend who does to try out but this sample is great as it shows that My Treat include products that are of high quality and variety.
Price: $40 - $55 for 200ml
Verdict: I really enjoyed My Treat's August box with it's variety of pampering products. The underwear was perfect as I got a practical pair and a sexy pair. It's clear that My Treat are working hard to make each box better than the last and I think we'll see an increase of full-sized products and less samples over the next few months. My favourite item in this month's box would definitely be the Angel En Provence Sakura Energetic Body Lotion which smells absolutely divine. One item that didn't impress me was the nail buffer block which didn't really work but I was impressed with the overall box. You can get your My Treat box at www.mytreat.co.nz
